Dara McQuillan's Biography

Early Education and Career Beginnings (1990-1995)

Dara McQuillan's academic journey began at the European School of Brussels, where he completed his European Baccalaureate in 1990. He then pursued higher education at University College Dublin from 1990 to 1991, followed by the University of St Andrews from 1991 to 1994, where he studied philosophy. McQuillan furthered his education at UCLA from 1994 to 19951.

Entry into Media and Film (1994-1998)

McQuillan started his professional career as a reporter for Variety in 1994, a role he held for a year. He then transitioned to the film industry, working as a Story Editor for Merchant Ivory Productions from 1997 to 19981.

In June 2001, McQuillan took on the role of Media & Communications Manager at Shearman & Sterling LLP, where he was responsible for managing the firm's reputation and visibility. His work in this position earned his group a Silver Anvil from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in June 20032 3.

Silverstein Properties and the World Trade Center (2004-2024)

Dara McQuillan joined Silverstein Properties in January 2004 as the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer. His tenure at Silverstein Properties has been marked by significant achievements, including the development of a long-term World Trade Center repositioning and branding strategy, the construction and marketing of 3 WTC, 4 WTC, and 7 WTC, and the unveiling of designs for One WTC. His group's efforts were recognized with a Silver Anvil award from the PRSA. McQuillan also played a pivotal role in Silverstein's "two occurrence" insurance litigation and has been instrumental in documenting the historic rebuilding project through various media. He is the editor of "A Century Downtown," a visual history of Lower Manhattan, and serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board of Downtown magazine2 3.

Throughout his career, McQuillan has worked closely with artists, photographers, and filmmakers to document Silverstein Properties' projects, and he has been involved in innovative collaborations with international street artists2 3.
